13.Changing the subject again..Are you running a label of anykind? And if so,who have you got signed to the label? Any important Releases that we should keep a look out for?
No is the answer to that. I do not own anything so lavish and great
(as they can be) such as a record company.

14.Are you in charge of a Radio Show, or maybe you own a Record Shop?
I was in charge of my local College radio station, G2K Radio last
year. I did everything there from presenting, programming, producing,
script writing etc. At present I play on an Inter Net UK station by the
name of UK-Rumbal, Saturdays 3-4:30 p.m.

15a It seems as if New York via its records labels are
hitting back of late which have definitely caught eye of the
Soulful Head buyers in England and Europe..
Have you noticed this....
Has this been mentioned within your record buying colleagues of
friend that you know...Already Spiritual Life, Ibadan and
Wave Records are starting to become cult status over here...
Is it a case of "The Empire Strikes Back!!!
Are the Americans hitting back? Maybe they're continuing as
individuals to just do their own thing, with the added inspirations of
other music and things going on around them anyway. It's human nature
to talk a lot and gossip. Some of it hearsay, can affect the attitudes
of purists among us who may look at those labels as being of a cult
status. All of them from Nervous, to Sub Urban, to King Street Sounds,
or who ever are the same because none of them are owned by fancy major
companies. I don't quite see it as the "empire strikes back", more a
case of the proverbial land roots of the music playing around with the
old and selling it as new. Every one that is into Dance period, not
only House (globally) does this. Remember there's nothing new in music
except for how you recreate an idea and make it fresh, adding a
different dimension to it.
17. The Body and Soul club on a Sunday in New York is often talked about as New York's finest Deep House and Garage club. Do you go?
Or is it a case of not having the time.
Would you go if you had the time? Have you been?
I've not had the pleasure yet of going to Body & Soul. Many of my
friends from the UK have been. The reports I've had are all good. I
would of course go when I have some extra cash.

18.As labels go..Have you a favourite One that you always stop
by as you flick through the piles of Records in your specialist record shop?
I am excited by lots of the various labels out there. For
consistency, Estereo, People, Slip 'n' Slide, Soma, Defender
are some of the UK labels doing it for me.

19.Record mixing. Your technique when playing out.
Do you use a style of blending when you playing out; or are you a person who like to jump straight in and out of a track without warning!!! What styles do you like to use?
I do like to blend where possible because I like to keep the record
floating around in the mind, and before you've even noticed it's
disappeared. I like to play around with EQ of the mixer creating a
different vibe on a particular cut. Essentially, it depends on each
track's makeup to how I will program a set. Expect plenty of songs,
alonside pumping hard soul dubs, and anything that expresses a lot of
jazz or funky beats. Also importantis the vibe of the crowd in front
of me at the time.

20. Are you governed to what you must play?
Do promoters dictate what you must and
must play on your DJ sets?
Any DJ who says that they've never ever been told/asked what to play
by a promoter, or their best mate even for a birthday party and
complied, is lying. It's happened to the best of us. When I'm booked
for a club it is usually because the promoter has heard me before, or my name has been suggested to them by the agent. In that scenario, I don't then have to compromise myself.
21. As we enter the year 2000. Is it still hard for women world wide to make it to a good level in the world of House and Garage music as a DJ? Britain that I know of has 2 that just comes to mind here that seem to be respected all over the country and most parts of Europe. Smokin Joe and Sarah HB.
Sarah HB is a wonderful person who really championed the scene with
her show on Kiss until recently. Smokin' Jo, a beautiful sista has done
consistently well and I'm very happy for her. Paulette, my mate from
Mercury goes all over Europe to spin too. I respect Bettina 'Go Deep'
Costanzo from Global Distribution for her enthusiasm and down-to-earth
nature, and Elese Joy. She like me has been playing for some years,
works jolly hard and always has a smile when I see her behind the
counter at Spin City record shop in London. almost forgot Donna Dee. I
must state for the record, I cannot resepect promoters who book women to
incite men to go to those clubs only to drool over them, yet the can't
even mix pastry.
22.Its getting nearer to Christmas now, and its that time of year when promoters have already, or are looking to book their star line ups for their Christmas and New Year bashes..Are you part of any star line booking either in the States or in Europe for this year? Or is it "Feet up for you, and enjoy the Holiday?
(*Reputedly some DJ's in the past have been paid in excess of 20,000 pounds or more to play Christmas, or New Year Bashes.. Is this right, or could this harm the music in the long run...what are your views on this?)
To my knowledge, I have not been booked for any Christmas/New Year
gigs. My idea of enjoying the festivities is to play at many House
parties as I could possibly manage. Those jocks that get those huge
ridiculous fees have agents who are few and far between. They know how
to milk those promoters who want to charge £50.00 (approximately) per
head with 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6 thousand clubbers in the place. Bingo that's
nuff corn, so why not get paid. After all, it's the season of good
will, is it not?

23.Talking about putting one's foot up.
When you do get the chance to do so. Do you ever read
the Dance Magazines? And if so which one and why this
particular one?
Being a full-time mother, my six year old daughter can be quite
demanding at times. My first priority is with her. Things I want to do
somehow fall in to place around her.
My favourite magazine is Vibe.
The UK Dance mags, I try to keep up with them
as a matter of course.

If you have any more additional points that you would like to add then please then do so...!!!
PS.
I'd like to say thanks to those who always supported me and encouraged
me to continue to stay true to what I believe in. Loving wishes to my
daughter - the angelic ONE, Mum, Ricky Morrison, Phil Asher, Booker T.,
Coral, Nicky Trax, Joann Vega, Ade, Carl @ Carl's Garage/House Page, Fernando, Basil B., Donna Dee, SSH and everyone else I dared to forget.
