This group was recently formed in the Spring of 2007 with the aim of creating Community Woodlands of native trees in Yoxford village. This will provide a wonderful amenity for people and a haven for birds and other wildlife.

We have been offered a suitable site and are currently in the process of finalising the lease. There will be consultations with the community about planting and maintenance.

Yoxford School has joined the project and the children have started collecting and planting seeds in the tree nursery at the school.

The idea is that the Project is run by the Village, for the benefit of the Local Community. Of course there will be a financial cost and we have already started fundraising. If anybody would like to offer any help that would be fantastic. As we have now been offered a piece of land we will soon be needing to set up work parties to build fencing, cut grass, planting wild flowers etc.

The lease is nearing completion and it is expected to be signed by the middle of October 2008. We will then be putting in fencing and cutting the grass.

Any general helpers who can assist with administration, grant applications, manning stalls, organising events, gardening etc would be very welcome, even if you can only offer the odd half hour.
