| WHAT’S HAPPENING
OCTOBER 2007
SEED PLANTING AT SCHOOLAt the beginning of
October children from Yoxford Primary School collected tree seeds from various locations in Yoxford. The seeds were
planted in a newly constructed raised bed on the school site during a day around the theme of trees and harvest.
It is hoped that many will germinate and the saplings, when large enough, will be planted in the new woodland area by
the school children and local volunteers.
NOVEMBER 2007
FUNDRAISING
A very big thank you to Nancy Main who hosted a fundraising meal at main’s Restaurant. The evening was a big success
and raised £373 for Yoxwood funds.
We would also like to thank members of the village for their generous donations
bringing our total to over £1,000.
LAND OFFERED
Yoxwood Antique Centre and Gardens run by Malcolm and June Purvis, has kindly offered land (on a renewable lease) for
a community wildlife area to be developed by the River Yox. It really is a delightful location and has great potential
to be a wonderful resource for both wildlife and Parishioners. A Management plan is currently being drawn up and
letters to solicitors exchanged. Suffolk Wildlife Trust have surveyed the area and made recommendations for planting.
Black Poplar trees are a consideration as they are compatible with existing wildlife interest and the landscape character
of the area.
