March ‘07 – Present: SKORPnet IT Consultancy

In May 2007 I started my business, SKORPnet, I had a small number of customers which were mainly small businesses and some home users. For these customers I have built websites, planned and implemented Client-Server networks which I have since maintained (SBS 2003, SQL Server, Exchange Server, MS Dynamics CRM), and continue to provide general IT support and advice from connectivity to software issues and network security (on site, remotely, and over the phone). This has involved a level of customer acquisition and retention.

I worked for this company part-time during term time (October – May) and full-time whilst not in studies (five months over summer, and then other holidays such as Easter and Christmas). Infologic is a local IT company where the work involved dealing with clients/customers in person and over the telephone in relation to their computers and computer networks. I often travelled to different locations where I performed diagnostics and fixed the customers PC/networking problems. I also created a number of websites for clients of this company.

This was a customer service role where I spent the majority of my time answering calls from customers regarding monthly publications they either wanted to order or had ordered but had not received. This also involved data input into the company’s bespoke database and processing orders, updating accounts, etc… I spent some of this time dealing with customers via email and written/printed correspondence.

My job meant dealing with employee issues over pay, checking timesheets and costing them against other paperwork, dealing with holiday pay, sick pay, maternity leave, and the use of Sage Payroll.
