With a team of visitors, the Minister and Elders look after the pastoral needs of members and friends.

Minister:  Rev Ivor J Smith

Rev Ivor SmithRev Ivor Smith was born and raised in Liverpool. On leaving school he worked firstly at The Royal Liver Assurance Company and then had a spell with the Post Office before moving back into the insurance world.  It was during this second period in insurance that he felt called to train for the Stipendiary Ministry in the United Reformed Church.

Ivor is married to Pam who is also an Ordained URC Minister.  They undertook their training together at Northern College, Manchester and they have both served groups of churches in the Leicestershire area for 14 years before moving to Suffolk.

Church Secretary: Mr Adrian Cubitt


Church SecretaryAdrian first came to St Johns when he joined the Boys Brigade company in 1964; became an officer in the BB which led onto becoming a Church Member in 1971. After obtaining a degree in Physics, trained to become a teacher and has taught Science & Mathematics at various Schools & Colleges since.  He is now retired.  Married with grown up family.  A season ticket holder at Ipswich Town Football Club.

Elders elections take place at the November Church Meeting.  They are elected to serve for a three year term and can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.  Elders are then not eligible for re-election during the following 12 months.
