Some Saab Recalls From The UK


Saab built 1595 '900 Convertible' between May 1994 and July 1995 which could suffer from misalignment of the steering column resulting in possible metal fatigue and loss of steering control. VIN: S7000001 to S7002837; S7010001 to S7025963; T7000001 to T7000153 VI reference: R1996/019


On 3842 Saab cars built between March 1994 and September 1994. Welds may be missing from the back frames of the front seats. Where a fault is identified, the seat frame will apparently be replaced. VIN: R2027373 - S2009903, S7000001 - S7013081 VI reference: R1995/002


On 21661 Saab cars built between August 1993 and 1997. Binding of the throttle lever may occur due to the possibility of corrosion in the bushes. Apparently the affected vehicles were recalled for replacement of the zinc coated bushing in the throttle lever, with a nickel coated version. VIN: S7000001 to S7003647, R2000001 to V2019663 VI reference: R1997/24

Saab 900 '93

Water, slush, and road salt could build up on front brakes and hamper stopping ability.

Models:

7443 4-door cars made 8/93-3/94.

What to do:

Have dealer install redesigned front brake shields and make other modifications.

Saab 900 '94

Seatback could fold backward in rear-end crash, increasing risk of injury to occupants.

Models:

3252 hatchbacks, with nonpower front driver¹s seat, made 8/93-1/94.

What to do:

Have dealer replace front-seat frame rails.

Saab 900 S '94

Front seat could move on tracks during hard braking or in crash, increasing risk of injury.

Models:

1015 cars, with nonpower front seat, made 3-6/94.

What to do:

Have dealer replace springs on seat-adjustment lever.

Saab 900 '94-'95

Missing welds on front-seat recliners could allow seatback to fall backwards suddenly.

Models:

10,584 cars made 3/94-10/94.

What to do:

Have dealer inspect seats and, if necessary, replace frames and recliners.

Saab 900 '95

Engine speed could fluctuate dramatically for up to half a minute after engine is started, possibly causing unexpected movement if transmission is in gear.

Models:

5383 nonturbocharged cars made 7/94-12/94.

What to do:

Have dealer replace engine-control module.

Saab 9000 '92-'93

Fuel could leak and create fire hazard.

Models:

5000 cars made 6/92-11/92.

What to do:

Note vehicle identification number and ask dealer whether your car is affected. If it is, have dealer install redesigned fuel-filler and vent hoses and new clamps.

Saab 9000 '92-'94

Antilock brakes could malfunction and decrease stopping ability.

Models:

12,091 cars made 6/91-5/94, including ¹92 models with MK II antilock brakes, Œ93 Turbo models with manual transmission, and Œ94 Aero models.

What to do:

Have dealer inspect and, if necessary, replace electrical connections, and install shrink hose to keep out moisture.

Saab 9000 '93

Brake lights may not go on or may stay on.

Models:

9747 cars made 6/92-6/93.

What to do:

Have dealer check and, if necessary, replace brake-light switch

Saab 9000 CD and CDE '94

Brake lights may not go on properly when brake pedal is pressed.

Models:

59 cars made 12/93-3/94.

What to do:

Have dealer rewire outboard brake-light assemblies.
